Be Healthy before Vacation or Travelling Overseas by Yourself
When I travel by myself, the most important factor that I take care of is my health. Even though I don't normally fall sick, like it has been 8 years now that I do not have any cold, cough or flu. Not kidding. But when I have plans to travel, I will make sure that I will be extra healthy. The food that I eat especially and exercising 3 to 4 months before the travel day.
- Food wise - Make sure to eat fruits at least 2 or 3 times per week. As for other types of food like fried ones etc, I still have it as usual in moderation.
- Drink water sufficiently. Be hydrated on a daily basis.
- I will avoid carbonated drinks (although I seldom drink Coke etc).
- There was one time I tried not to drink coffee with sugar or condensed milk before travelling to Russia. Then a week before travelling, I made my coffee with those. Because I was worried that I will be weak especially travelling to Yakutsk and Oymyakon where the temperature will be at -50 degree Celsius. Since it was my first time, not excluding Alaska which I think is still not as frozen as the 2 places. So, I had to be extra cautious.
- Exercise. Naturally I will exercise at least 2 or 3 times per week at the gym. As for when I was travelling solo for the past years, I rely on jogging and exercising at home like squatting, push-ups and stretching.
- Body size wise. Although normally I will try to look fit so my vacation photos will look good, sometimes when nature is more stronger than me making me having a bigger sized body, I will let it be. Because I do not want to look fragile when travelling alone.
Solo Travelling & Permission from Parents..
Note: This is not for my friends' children to read (your mum and dad who might be my friends will shoot me with vanilla smoothies)
And also not for anyone who are too young and cannot take care of yourself yet.
If you are a female aged 28 and above, and always has this inclination to travel solo to other countries, seeking approval from parents might be one of the challenges you have to overcome. In case you have any issues travelling solo, this is not an idea on how to manage it. I am just sharing how I handled it.
My dad is most of the time open to my requests to travel to other countries provided that it is a safe place. How safe? I am not sure. Most of the time, personally I had problems confirming whether the country is safe or not. Anyway, for my dad, I dealt with him in a different way. I will make sure I attend at least a conference/workshop during my travel so it will be considered partially educational and not just for vacation.
To handle my mum on the other hand, I realised it needs a different method. My last few travel experiences, it was not bad. Was easy to handle as it was for short duration like 2 weeks the max. Recently, I had a travel itinerary to Alaska and USA that I need to be away for 3 weeks. So, of course as a parent she will be very skeptical. I don’t know what exactly she was afraid off but mainly I guess my safety. I had ways to talked to her about this in a smart way. Not gonna share with you though. It is so not advisable. For me, I was just afraid of everything including lack of oxygen.
When her fear seems to surface which affected bits and pieces of my confidence to travel, I decided to make a visual understanding of my travel plan. I extracted a map online and made it like this one on the right.
I printed it out in colour and then I showed to her the world map. Location and dates, including some funky pictures that represents the places. Eskimo 'Pies' - Alaska, Glee - California and Taylor Swift with her cat - New York City.
I pasted it on the kitchen wall.
Guess what? Her worries abruptly decreased to 90%. I am not kidding. For the next 2 weeks before my departure, mainly she just gave me advice to remember this and that, be careful here and there etc etc instead of questionings and words that reflects her worries.
Yeah babes.. it works good for me. Good luck on your inventions then!

Individuals who Unguarded your Fears
You are visiting one of the historical landmarks in a country (India). While you alight from your vehicle, you saw someone whom you think that you should avoid because you know deep inside you if you talk to that person, you will not be able to forget him/her. You had brainwashed your mind in an instance to look at the negative aspect of the person because deep in your mind you had already concluded that he/she is charming.
You decided to walk away and focus on your purpose you were there.
While you were figuring something at the entrance, he/she approached you instead and that it is when you were stunned, speechless and hecking everything that just happened. That smile and eye contact are just moments you know it will be engraved in your memories. You know he/she is acting normal but your pulse was definitely not working so well.
You allowed the conversations to lead to contacts and names exchange. Then there you go, caving into the situation which you have been avoiding. For the next four years, long distance with no fairytale ending. But...
Sometimes, you are fated to meet someone and you will be wondering the reasons. It has in fact brought you to the path that leads you to the journey which was initially clouded with fears and hibernating for years. Heading ahead with the opportunities to travel to countries which you have been pondering to visit for years. Without meeting that person, you will not even think to visit it.
Everyone needs a push!
Just understand it and you will appreciate that instance.
Five years later, it ended though. Sad story. I was not the one ending it. Not my fault.

YAQIN
The Muslim Reader, Vol 12, No.2 (Jan 1994-Mar 1994) By Muhammad Amin Abdul Samad. Extracted from Vizier,Singapore #24.
Ibn Taymiyah (D.728AH/1328 CE) divided Yaqin into three categories:
'Ilmul Yaqin, certainty by reasoning or inference. For example, if somebody informs you that there is honey at a certain place and the informer is reliable person, this is 'Ilmul Yaqin, certainty by reasoning.
'Aymul Yaqin, certainty by personal inspection, namely, certainty of seeing something with your own eyes. This belongs to the category of "seeing is believing". If you come to the place and see honey by yourself, this is 'aynul yaqin, certainty by personal inspection.
Haqqul Yaqin, absolute truth, no possibility of error of judgement of error of the eye. If you taste the honey and find it genuine honey, your certainty is called haqqul yaqin, absolute truth.
