One of the interesting factors when we explore to other countries is when it will add value to our experiences. One of it is meeting people from all around the world. Acquainting with individuals of different cultures, religions, interests, age and gender who share similar purposes being there at the same place and same time. The coincidences. This is my first time travelling in a group with strangers who are also solo travelers and all men. It is one of my travels highlights. New exposures. Deciding to visit Russia was actually kind of a last minute plan (I planned it since one year ago. That is consider last minute in my travel-dictionary). Initially, I wanted to travel to another country but since I saw an article in FB shared by Naz’s friend, Nazeer, on the coldest place in the world, it peaked my curiosity. I have been looking into visiting Antarctica (the coldest place on earth) but since that place is restricted, my alternative plan was to visit Alaska which I did it two years ago. I thought Alaska is considered the limit. Anyway, when I found out about Yakutsk, my brainwaves peaks. The picture in the article which showed a woman in fur jacket on a frozen bridge in Yakutsk appeared in my dreams day and night even though I seldom sleep in the afternoon. So I guess that is the symptom that I had actually fallen in love with whatever is going on there. As how most people do when they are attracted to somebody like stalking them in social medias, I read extensively Wikipedia, articles and videos by travel bloggers about Yakutsk repeatedly. Apparently, this coldest city in the world has an average -34°C during winter and it is accessible by flights. When I said I repeatedly read the same articles to digest my imaginations, it does not mean I am more confident to go there. In fact, like how I thought I would understand some people through checking their facebook timeline, this was the same scenario. More questions of reluctance and doubts came into my frontal brain. Such as “Damn it!! It is too cold. Can I take it? What if I die? But it seems adventurous to try. Not the dying part! I meant the temperature”; “In Russia? There are so many negative hoohas news about this country. Is it safe for me to go alone?”; “Why no one I knew (except one who is my secondary school friend) visits the largest country in the world? Why? Whyyy?”. Partly these are just me exaggerating. Anyway... It took me about six months to eventually book the air tickets. Planning was a bliss this time due to the formulas I followed for my previous travel plans. Example, 52% of 23 should be .23 instead of 0.52. I contemplated when choosing the package for Yakutsk to Oymyakon because of the two days journey to reach there. Including being in bubbles of imaginations such as what if my group mates are freaks? Oh yeah, that was in my mind. On the other hand, my persistence and stubbornness to explore that was embedded in my hypothalamus region of my brain had overpowered all those imaginations. Well!!
